Governor Alia of Benue State has urged unions, organisations, and people planning to attend the scheduled August 1st protests throughout the country to reconsider their plan.

The governor asked the planned demonstrators to “bring forth their demands and give the government a chance to look into them”.

Governor Alia made the statement on Sunday, just after Mass at the Chapel of Grace, Government House, Makurdi.

Recall that the scheduled date for a nationwide demonstration by Nigerian youths has been pushed back to August 1st, 2024.

They are protesting against hardship and poor administration.

In response to the issue, Governor Alia stated that the planned demonstration must be postponed, especially because the current administration is doing everything it can to make people happy.

Governor Alia praised the State Commissioner of Police, CP Hassan Steve Yabanet, and the Department of State Services, DSS, for bringing several union leaders and groups to a roundtable discussion, which dissuaded them and their people from joining the demonstration.

Governor Alia stated that the administration discovered intentions by some persons to infiltrate the rally and cause havoc.
