Dr. Bashir Jamoh, Director-General of NIMASA, restated the Agency’s commitment to certify Nigerian Navy personnel who complete NAVTRAC’s mandated training.
Jamoh revealed this during a working visit to the Agency by a NAVTRAC team led by the Flag Officer Commanding, Rear Admiral Patrick Nwatu. Rear Admiral Nwatu emphasized the need for collaboration to improve capacity development and professionalism through global best practices.
He asked NAVTRAC to resolve identified gaps to guarantee that the Naval Training Command’s training and curriculum conform with the curricula of worldwide training institutions for marine professionals. The curriculum should follow the Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW).
Jamoh emphasized the need for continued collaboration between the Nigerian Navy and NIMASA in the battle against piracy in the Gulf of Guinea. He stressed that this effort is for the nation’s sake and our ambition to sustain victory.
In his remarks, Rear Admiral Nwatu promised the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to professionalizing its staff. This commitment will ultimately lead to increased productivity in the Navy.
