The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said that it will step up its fight against drug addiction in Lagos State.
Mr Mallum Musa, the Media and Advocacy Officer of the NDLEA’s Lagos Command, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos.
He stated that the agency would ensure that the campaign reached rural areas in the state to keep indigenes from being misled into illegal drug usage.
Musa stated that a series of workshops will be arranged for women and adolescents to educate them on the hazards of drug misuse.
He said:
“The programme will expose Nigerians to types of illicit drugs, their abuse, consequences, prevention, treatment, and care.
“As part of the efforts to ensure the campaign hits its objectives, the agency has upgraded its forensic laboratory to enhance investigations and treatments.
“The forensic laboratory will support the agency’s drug investigations, which will enhance the campaign.”
He pleased to all community leaders, religious organisations, institutions, and governments to support the agency’s efforts to rid the state of illegal substances.
