Media personality Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, popularly known as Nedu, has publicly criticized Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede following their disagreement over the fallout from a recent podcast episode.

The conflict stems from Jegede’s comments about actor Yul Edochie’s polygamist nature, which sparked outrage among fans.

During a session with Nedu and the Honest Bunch crew, Yvonne Jegede pointed out the public’s support for Regina Daniels’ billionaire husband, Ned Nwoko, while condemning Yul Edochie for taking a second wife. This led to a backlash, prompting Jegede to apologize to her fans and May Edochie, whom many believed was targeted by her remarks.

Nedu was not pleased with Jegede’s apology, criticizing her for not standing by her words. In response, Jegede revealed that Nedu had previously expressed romantic interest in her via direct messages, inviting her to hang out.

Nedu retaliated with a press statement refuting Jegede’s claims and clarifying that her appearance on the podcast was to promote her new movie. He emphasized that the show’s producers were not responsible for Jegede’s statements and urged her to stop defaming him.

We want to clarify that Yvonne Jegede was not coerced into making any statements on the podcast,” the statement read. “Neither Nedu nor the producers of The Honest Bunch are accountable for her personal views. Yvonne Jegede joined the show to promote her upcoming movie. Despite this being a paid appearance, it does not give her the right to defame or slander Nedu or the show’s producers. We advise Yvonne Jegede to cease personal attacks and defamatory remarks.”

The controversy intensified when Jegede issued an apology, which Nedu perceived as insincere. Jegede, in her defense, accused Nedu of previously trying to pursue a personal relationship with her, a claim he vehemently denied. In a detailed press release, Nedu underscored that Jegede’s appearance was solely for her movie promotion and that any statements she made were her own.

The press release by Tokindrumz Management for Nedu stated that Jegede’s participation was paid but did not justify defamatory remarks against Nedu or the producers. The statement concluded with a call for Jegede to refrain from further personal attacks, aiming to deescalate the situation.
