14.3 million Nigerians are drug abusers, according to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The agency is rage that more women were engaging in such heinous acts, this has also impacted the age range of drug abusers in Nigeria at 15 to 64.
Ibiba Odili made this statement at the Abeokuta inauguration of the Lions Club International and War Against Drug Abuse campaign.
The Ogun State Commander of the NDLEA, Ibiba Odili, bemoaned the country’s worrying trend of women using drugs, stating “one in four drug abusers is a woman”.
She lamented that
“The 2018 survey tells us that the most common drug abused in Nigeria is cannabis, which regrettably is cultivated mostly in the South-West region of Nigeria”.
In his remarks, the governor of Lions Clubs International District 404 B3, Olayiwola Fadairo, agreed with Odili that drug usage among young people in the nation is on the rise.
He said that the club’s goal was to rid society of narcotics.
