Nigerian Artists Shine in VMA Best Afrobeats Category

American singer Usher’s nomination for “Ruin,” featuring Nigerian producer and singer Pheelzgood, has sparked discussions about cultural appropriation. Music journalist Joey Akan criticized the nomination, arguing that it signifies a loss of cultural ownership for Nigerians.
