Popular Nigerian gospel artistes Nikki Laoye and Soul Snatcha have joyfully unveiled their daughter’s face to the public, sharing touching insights into the meaning behind her multiple names.
The couple first announced the birth of their daughter in March, marking the occasion as a perfect display of God’s love, mercy, and goodness. Now, two months later, they shared photos of their beautiful baby girl on Instagram, revealing her full name: Kayla Dawn Oyenike Omatsola Fiyinfoluwa Oluwabusolami Adeoluwanimofishewa Oluwadarasimi.
Nikki Laoye affectionately described her daughter as “my special gift straight from heaven” and the fifth member of the @MeetTheSnatchas dynasty. She explained that Kayla has even more names given by family and friends, each reflecting the deep love and significance surrounding her arrival.
Here is the heartfelt meaning behind some of the names:
Kayla: Short for Mikayla, meaning “Who is Like the Lord.” Nikki named her this to honour God, who gave her this gift after experiencing three miscarriages — a symbol of His endless love.
Dawn: Given by Soul Snatcha, inspired by Proverbs 46:5 — “God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.” It signifies a new beginning and hope for their family.
Oyenike: Meaning “Nurtured and Cared for in Royalty,” linking Kayla to Nikki’s royal Itsekiri lineage from Ede, Osun State.
Omatsola: Named in honour of Nikki’s late father, Prince Olusola Laoye, it means “This Child is Life” and reflects the Itsekiri heritage from Delta State.
Fiyinfoluwa: Given by Soul Snatcha, meaning “We Give God Praise.”
Oluwabusolami: Given by Grandma Adeyoola, meaning “God has added more honour to me.”
Adeoluwanimofishewa: Given by Grandma Laoye, meaning “The Crown of God is my beauty.”
Oluwadarasimi: Meaning “God is good to me,” given by Nikki and Grandma Laoye.
Nikki expressed deep gratitude for the miracle of their daughter’s life and pledged to raise her in the ways of the Lord, ensuring she serves God faithfully throughout her days.
Thank you, Jesus, for this beautiful miracle. We are forever grateful and honoured to be her custodians as we raise and train her in the way of the Lord. She will serve you for the rest of her days. Amen.”
