Nigerian gospel ministers Nathaniel Bassey and Victoria Orenze have joined mourners worldwide following the tragic death of U.S. conservative activist and author Charlie Kirk.
Kirk, 31, was shot and killed on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem during a stop on his “American Comeback Tour.” Authorities say the attack appeared to be targeted, with the gunman believed to have fired from a nearby rooftop. A person of interest was questioned and later released, while the investigation continues with assistance from federal agents.
Taking to Instagram, Nathaniel Bassey expressed grief over the loss, writing:
“Pained. Rest in the Lord, Charlie Kirk.”
Victoria Orenze shared a heartfelt tribute, declaring that “truth cannot be silenced.” She described Kirk as “a true soldier of Christ now with the Truth (Jesus Christ)” and encouraged believers to remain steadfast in their faith during trying times. She also extended prayers to Kirk’s wife, children, and family.
“His wife, children, and family are wrapped by the comfort of the Holy Ghost in Jesus’ name,” Orenze wrote. “These times were foretold… we must boldly stand for Jesus Christ.”
The news of Kirk’s passing has also sparked condolences from Nigerians on social media, with many expressing shock and sorrow over the killing.
Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA and a prominent ally of former U.S. President Donald Trump, was known for mobilizing young conservatives across America. His death has been described by Utah’s governor as a “political assassination.”
Law enforcement is urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward as the investigation continues.
