Nigeria had an increase in food inflation from 32.83 percent in November 2023 to 33.93 percent in December 2023.

This was revealed in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report for December 2023 by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), which was made public on Monday.

When compared to the November number, this indicates a 2.72 percent rise.

According to the data, there was a 10.18% increase in comparison to the rate observed during the same time in 2022.

Monthly food inflation was brought on by increases in the average cost of meat, eggs, bread, cereals, oil and fat, and cheese.

Additionally, Nigeria’s headline inflation rate increased for the eleventh time in a row in December 2023, reaching 28.92 percent.
