The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across various regions of the country on Thursday, July 10, 2025.

The daily weather outlook, released on July 9, indicates varying weather patterns across northern, central, and southern states, with potential risks of flash floods and strong winds.

In the northern region, states including Taraba, Adamawa, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, Jigawa, Yobe, and Bauchi are expected to experience morning thunderstorms with light to moderate rainfall.

Sunny intervals with patches of clouds are anticipated in other parts of the north. However, by afternoon and evening, more intense weather conditions are forecast, with moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds likely in Bauchi, Kaduna, Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Yobe, and Borno.

The central region, including Nasarawa, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Plateau, and Niger, is expected to witness morning thunderstorms with light rain. Later in the day, moderate rainfall is predicted in the FCT, Nasarawa, Kogi, Kwara, Benue, Niger, and Plateau. Residents in these areas should prepare for possible weather-related disruptions.

Southern states will experience cloudy skies in the morning, with light rain expected in Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom. As the day progresses, moderate rainfall is forecast across most parts of the south, particularly in the afternoon and evening.

NiMet has advised the public to remain cautious due to the potential for flash floods, strong winds, and localised disruptions. The agency urged residents to take necessary precautions, particularly in flood-prone areas, and stay updated on further weather advisories. The forecast highlights the need for preparedness as the rainy season intensifies across the country.
