Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has been officially renamed “Nkechi Adeleke,” a gesture made public by Nigerian singer Davido and his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The announcement was shared on her Instagram page, where she expressed her delight at the honour. In a video from B-Red’s birthday party, where the name change took place, Nkechi was seen enjoying the moment with Davido and Governor Adeleke.

During a conversation with Governor Adeleke, Nkechi reflected on her past controversies and assured him of her personal growth. She emphasized that she had moved past her previous troubles and now embraced a more peaceful approach to life.
His excellency said*Who no know you but that which I was known for, I am no longer that person. I don change. Abeg when last I find trouble for here. In a heartfelt note to her late mother, Nkechi expressed her hope that her mother was watching from heaven and noted how much she valued her new name. She wrote,
Hey, Mummy, NBS was chilling with the Governor of Osun State today. I just thought to tell you. Did you see us from heaven? Love you forever, Mummy.”
Nkechi also praised the Adelekes for their humility, sharing her positive experience.
You fit make Governor laugh? I no be comedian oo. I am just one very happy girl with so much positive vibes. And one thing I respect the Adelekes for is their humility.”
This public recognition comes amid Nkechi Blessing’s personal and professional journey. Earlier this year, she celebrated her loyalty to Davido and attended his wedding to Chioma. She had also marked her mother’s posthumous birthday with charitable acts and personal tributes, reflecting on her mother’s legacy and the void left by her passing.
