The family of the late Nollywood actress Nkechi Nweje has officially announced her funeral arrangements.
Last month, reports confirmed the heartbreaking loss of Nkechi Nweje, a veteran actress celebrated for her roles in Nollywood classics. She passed away following a brief illness, leaving fans and colleagues mourning her untimely departure.
According to a flyer shared by her colleague Rita Edochie, Nkechi will be laid to rest on Friday, May 23rd, 2025, in Onitsha, Anambra State. Rita expressed her sorrow, noting how painful it is to say goodbye to someone who meant so much.
“On May 23rd, 2025, I will no longer see my sister-in-law Nkechi Nweje. This wasn’t part of our plan for 2025,” she lamented in her post, urging fans to pay their respects to the veteran actress.
Similarly, actress Ngozi Ezeonu shared her grief, reminiscing about Nkechi’s warmth and kindness. She described Nkechi’s death as a tremendous loss, noting she would deeply miss her radiant smile and gentle spirit.
Nkechi’s passing adds to the growing list of tragic losses in the entertainment industry this year. Just days ago, plus-sized model Monalisa Stephen was reported dead, and last month, Nollywood lost veteran actor and academic Columbus Irisoanga.
As the entertainment world mourns, Nkechi Nweje’s legacy will continue to shine through her work and the lives she touched.
