It’s a somber day for the family, friends, and admirers of the late actor Junior Pope Odonwodo as he is laid to rest today, May 17th, 2023.
Following the tragic incident where Junior Pope and five others lost their lives in a drowning accident at Anam River on April 10th, 2024, his family announced his funeral arrangements. Today, the actor’s burial is taking place in his hometown of Ukehe, Enugu State.
Images and videos from the funeral proceedings are circulating online, showing emotional scenes as Junior Pope’s wife, holding their youngest child, appears visibly distraught.
The absence of the term ‘husband’ on the initial funeral poster sparked controversy among fans, especially considering Junior Pope’s marriage to Jennifer Awele and their three sons. However, his family clarified that the poster was unauthorized and corrected it to include his wife’s title.
Despite his untimely passing, Junior Pope’s colleagues and friends marked his first posthumous birthday on May 7th. They expressed their grief and shared heartfelt messages, reminiscing about his presence and lamenting his absence. Rita Edochie, Nosa Rex, Rachael Okonkwo, and Stanley Nwoko were among those who honoured him on this poignant occasion.
