Nollywood actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod recently expressed his admiration after visiting the world’s oldest actor, Charles Olumo, who is 101 years old.
Afod shared his experience and a video of the visit on his Instagram page, highlighting Olumo’s impressive health and vitality despite his advanced age.
In the shared video, Charles Olumo, full of energy, is seen jumping to demonstrate his agility to Kunle Afod. This display of physical fitness left Afod and many of his followers in awe. Afod captioned the video, praising Olumo’s strength and health, and expressed his wish to experience such grace in his own life.
Afod wrote:
Charles Olumo, who happens to be 101 years old. The oldest actor on earth is still very strong and healthy. Visited him to check on his well-being. I pray for this type of grace ooo.”
The video and Afod’s heartfelt message received a positive response from fans and followers, with many commenting on Olumo’s blessed life and exceptional longevity.
The admiration for Olumo’s longevity and health extends beyond fans to his colleagues in the industry. Last year, actress Biola Bayo and other admirers surprised Olumo on his birthday, encouraging fans to celebrate the veteran actor while he is still alive. Muyiwa Ademola even called on the Guinness World Records to recognize Olumo’s remarkable milestone.
To commemorate his milestone, the Theatre Arts and Motions Pictures Practitioners in Nigeria (TAMPAN) held a star-studded celebration in Abeokuta. The event was attended by notable celebrities, including Toyosi Adesanya, Odunlade Adekola, Lere Paimo, Rose Odika, Bolaji Amusan (Mr Latin), Tunde Kelani, and Yemi Solade.
Kunle Afod has garnered widespread appreciation for his continuous support and advocacy for Nollywood veterans. Earlier this year, Afod visited veteran actress Iya Niwen in Ibadan, calling on his colleagues to help bring her back into the industry. He also paid a surprise visit to veteran actor Lere Paimo (Eda Onile Ola), leading to generous donations from Nigerians following Afod’s call for assistance.
