Nollywood actress Biola Bayo is standing tall amidst the rising trend of Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBL), making it clear that she’s comfortable in her natural body.
In a recent interview with Seun Oloketuyi on “Nollywood On Radio”, the actress reflected on how BBL is just another phase in society, similar to when tattoos were in vogue. According to her, while many may feel pressured to follow the trend, she has no such inclination.
“The BBL will come and go,” Biola said, boldly stating that she is perfectly content with her body, even if it doesn’t fit societal beauty standards.
I don’t have big bumbum or breasts, and if you don’t like me like that, it is your problem.”
She emphasized that embracing one’s true self is more important than succumbing to external pressures.
Biola further highlighted how, during the tattoo craze, many of her friends and colleagues jumped on the bandwagon. However, she chose to stick to her personal values, just as she is doing now with the BBL trend. “But that didn’t stop me from being Biola Adebayo,” she added confidently.
Her comments come at a time when more celebrities, like radio presenter and actor Lolo 1, have opened up about their body insecurities. Lolo 1 recently revealed that she would have undergone surgery to reduce her breast size had she been able to afford it, sharing her struggles with body shaming during her youth.
The discussion around body modifications has been a hot topic lately, with figures like Daddy Freeze and veteran actor Kanayo Kanayo sharing their thoughts on the risks and societal pressures surrounding BBL. Daddy Freeze likened the procedure to a camel’s hump, while Kanayo questioned why husbands rarely sponsor their wives for such surgeries, implying the trend may not have long-term benefits.
Beyond the BBL discussion, Biola Bayo also shared insights about her personal journey in education. The actress, who dropped out of secondary school, recalled how the experience changed her perspective on life and fueled her passion for learning. Despite facing financial challenges, Biola pursued her educational dreams relentlessly, earning several admissions she couldn’t take advantage of at the time. “Education was intentional for me,” she said, reflecting on the struggles she overcame.
Biola’s determination to rise above mediocrity has been a guiding principle throughout her career. She believes in constantly striving for better, regardless of where she is in life. “My lesson is that I don’t stop at any level of mediocrity,” she stated, encouraging others to keep pushing for success.
The actress also took a moment to dispel the misconception that the Yoruba movie industry is filled with illiterate actors. She acknowledged that while the industry once had more uneducated actors, many of her colleagues were literate and articulate, often speaking English with more polish than today’s generation.
In addition to her thriving acting career, Biola Bayo has earned academic accolades. In December last year, she joined the ranks of esteemed actors like Lateef Adedimeji and Nancy Isime when she was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Leadership and Business from Georgia University. Proudly sharing the news with her followers, she reintroduced herself on Instagram and expressed her gratitude for the prestigious honor.
