Nollywood actress Bisola Badmus recently shared her challenges in co-parenting her son with Nigerian Fuji legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (Kwam1), while battling a brain tumour.
During an interview with fellow actress Biola Bayo, Bisola revealed the hardships she’s faced and the lack of consistent support from her son’s father.
While she initially kept her health issues from him, Kwam1 eventually found out about her condition and provided assistance for a time. However, she lamented that he has since stopped responding to her calls. Despite reaching out to him, Bisola expressed that all she wants is for Kwam1 to take responsibility for their son, as it has been challenging for her to cope with everything on her own.
In her words:
Initially, I didn’t tell my baby daddy (K1) about my sickness (brain tumor), but he later got to know. He tried for a while, but he is not responding to me anymore. All I want him to do is take care of the responsibilities of our son, Malik. I have been trying to cope, but it’s not easy.”
Bisola also spoke candidly about her health, revealing that she has been battling a brain tumour for the past three years. In a previous interview with fellow actor Kunle Afod, she mentioned that at one point, her condition became so severe that she couldn’t see or recognize anyone. Fortunately, she has seen some improvement with ongoing treatment, though the financial toll has been significant.
Adding to her struggles, Bisola has faced immense personal loss. In recent years, she lost her father, mother, and younger brother. Her mother’s passing in January of last year left a profound impact on her, and she marked the 40-day remembrance in March, reflecting on the deep pain it caused her and her siblings.
Bisola’s revelations have touched many hearts, with Nigerians stepping up to offer assistance. Following her recent plea for help, several individuals and organizations have come forward to sponsor her son’s education. Her colleague, Biola Bayo, shared the good news on Instagram, thanking those who contributed to securing a scholarship for Malik.
Biola wrote:
THANK GOD WE FINALLY GOT A SCHOLARSHIP FOR MALIK! OLUWASEUN. May God continue to help her. I pray she will never lack money and the gift of good people around her.”
Many Nigerians have expressed their joy at the news, but some couldn’t help but call out Kwam1 for his lack of involvement in his son’s life. The scholarship was seen by many as a testament to the kindness of strangers, but also as an indictment of Kwam1’s role as a father.
Fans and followers took to social media to express their thoughts, with many criticizing Kwam1 for not stepping up to support his son. Some of the comments included:
- One user, Tifeh_betterglory, wrote: “His dad is hale and hearty, and his son is being offered a scholarship. It’s not like you’re poor or on average, if this isn’t the definition of deadbeat, then I don’t know what it is.”
- Lemmah_Beauty_home added: “Alhamdulilahi olorun Seun. Haaaa oga laikin se pe his father is not alive. God’s protection over you dear Malik.”
- Another user, Bukybee, commented: “K1 is alive and his baby mama and child are going through all this.”
This is not the first time Bisola has spoken out about Kwam1’s lack of involvement in their son’s life. In 2022, while celebrating Malik’s 10th birthday, Bisola threw shade at the Fuji singer, referring to him as a deadbeat father. She highlighted how she has taken on both parental roles, raising Malik by herself.
The Nollywood actress remains hopeful that her condition will continue to improve, and that her son’s future will be brighter with the help of kind-hearted individuals.
