Mr. Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has commanded that all sting operations at night be suspended.
According to the Commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the chairman issued the instruction in Abuja in response to the arrest of 69 alleged online fraudsters by operatives of the agency’s Ibadan Zonal at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State.
He also indicated that many of the individuals who had been adequately profiled by the command had been freed, and that profiling of those who had yet to be released will be done.
“The commission wishes to assure the public that it will not relent in its adherence to the rule of law, in the exercise of its mandate,” Oyewale added.
