In an attempt to alleviate the state’s economic difficulties, the Ogun State Government has begun selling Federal Government rice that has been subsidized in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun East Senatorial District.
Recall that at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, at the Arcade Ground, Governor Dapo Abiodun said that all citizens in the state’s three senatorial districts would be able to purchase rice at discounted prices.
In an interview with journalists on Friday, Hamzat Abdulwasiu, a representative of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, stated that established protocols will be adhered to for the procurement of the 50 kilogram bags of rice in order to foster effectiveness, responsibility, and openness.
He said:
“Residents who have interest in the purchase of the subsidised rice will have to be physically present for capturing with their NIN and a loaded ATM card with the sum of N40,000. Individuals will get their rice within 48 to 72 hours of adhering to the process.
“We do not collect transfer or cash from anybody. To ensure convenient distributions, we encourage group collection, but individuals must carry out their registration separately.
“The capturing process and distribution of rice have been hitch-free since we commenced.”
