The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s (NDLEA) Ogun State Command confiscated 222.42kg of cannabis, often known as marijuana, from several drug joints throughout the state. The operatives raided the drug dens in Abeokuta, the state capital. Afterwards, the operatives also confiscated 40 bottles of codeine weighing a total of 0.4 litres.

Ibiba Odili, the command’s Commander of Narcotics, made the announcement on Tuesday. She stated that the operatives raided different drug dens in Abeokuta, including Mayas in Lafenwa, Odo-Eran in Obantoko, and Randa.

She said that the operatives found a locally produced pistol in one of the establishments.

According to the statement, “The gallant joint operatives seized a jaw-dropping 222.42Kg of cannabis sativa, also known as marijuana, in one fell swoop.

“This will deal a significant blow to drug traffickers, interrupt their supply chains and destabilise their illicit operations.

“In addition to the cannabis seizure, the joint forces discovered 40 bottles of codeine, weighing a total of 0.4 litres, highlighting the misuse of pharmaceutical drugs.

“The operatives also seized a locally-made gun during the operation”.

The fourth phase of the NDLEA’s operations against illegal drugs in Abeokuta has begun, according to Odili. The state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and members of the 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army are collaborating in this operation.

To build a secure and drug-free atmosphere, she declared measures to disrupt supply chains and dismantle trafficking networks.
