A Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sentenced Suleiman Usman, a father, to life in prison for defiling his eight-year-old daughter after finding him guilty as accused by the Lagos State government. Justice Rahman Oshodi handed down the sentence.
The court charged Usman with defiling his eight and five-year-old children in Lagos State, to which he pled not guilty. As a result, the case file was moved from Justice Sybil Nwaka’s court to Justice Oshodi’s. During the trial, the prosecution called four witnesses, and Usman was acquitted of the second accusation. However, they received a life sentence for the first accusation based on corroborating testimonies and evidence.
In his words,
“Our society is prone to sexual abuse, sexual crimes against children are so prevalent. Our laws in Lagos have zero tolerance for your gang of paedophiles that is not acceptable.
In your case, the survivor is your daughter. You put your penis in her virginal and her anus, the survivor was 8 years at the time because she has excruciating pain.”
