Olalekan Ifede, Chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission, has appointed five zonal education secretaries to fill the void left by the promotion of some of the secretaries to the positions of secondary school principals and vice principals.
Ifede stated at the TESCOM conference room in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, that the exercise was critical to building management capacity and providing equal representation in each zone of the state.
The chairman charged the appointed secretaries with being diligent and seeing themselves as the commission’s eyes and ears in whichever zones they are posted, stating that zonal offices were extensions of the chairman’s office at the zones.
According to him:
“By our assessment, we find the appointees fit for the job. Their duty is to oversee all schools within their designated zones and furnish the commission with updated reports on schools monthly, among others. They are encouraged to relate closely with the old Zonal Secretaries so they can get well acquainted with the job requirements.”
Speaking on behalf of the other inductees, Mr. Habeeb Abdullah thanked the commission for the opportunity to serve and assured them that they would carry out their responsibilities in accordance with the office’s directives to improve educational initiatives in all of the state’s zones.
Dr. Abdulwaheed Olanloye, Permanent Secretary of TESCOM, urged the newly appointed secretaries to conduct themselves appropriately and carry out their responsibilities with diligence in order to promote education in the state.
