Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury on Sunday, he performed well enough to win a split decision.
He received scores of 115-113 and 114-113 from two judges, while Fury received a score of 114-113 from the other.
With Usyk’s triumph, boxing has seen its first uncontested world heavyweight title in 25 years—a remarkable accomplishment in the age of four belts.
Britain’s Fury started out as the aggressor, but Usyk gradually gained the upper hand. The “Gipsy King,” who was limping, was spared by the bell in the tenth round and eventually made a comeback.

Usyk is unchallenged at heavyweight, just as he was at cruiserweight.
Feeling he won, Tyson Fury says he’s prepared for a rematch in October.
Oleksandr Usyk is also in favour of the rematch.
Usyk responded to the triumph by saying:
The Ukrainian becomes the first undisputed heavyweight champion since boxing acknowledged four main titles in the 2000s, joining the ranks of Mike Tyson, Joe Louis, and Muhammad Ali.
With this victory, the former unchallenged cruiserweight champion may rightfully call himself the greatest of this generation.
After defeating Evander Holyfield in 1999, Lennox Lewis of Britain became the final fighter to unify the heavyweight titles, which were three at the time.
