Singer Omah Lay may be cooking up something new in the studio, as he recently took to Twitter to share the inspiration behind most of his songs.

Reflecting on an old tweet where he spoke about the difficulties he was facing while writing a song, Omah Lay revealed that much of his music is inspired by his misery.

Fans reacted passionately to Omah Lay’s admission, focusing more on the quality of his music rather than his mental health. Some even suggested he should remain depressed if it meant producing great songs.

A user, jidrek, commented, “I think Omah Lay is good at what he’s doing by scamming us that he’s depressed and losing his mind. He’s using that tactic to get to us, and yes, it’s a sweet tactic.”

Another user, osakpolor_christian, wrote, “Those misery lyrics hit differently. Don’t change, please.”

Similarly, starboy7765 commented, “You’re losing your mind, but you enter the studio, record, promote. You’re already crazy.”

generalskubex added, “Abeg make it no be say Omah Lay don later find joy and happiness, Abeg oo.”

User dibia18 said, “One song just came to my mind and that’s ‘I’m a mess.’”

oyovwi44 added, “Just continue to dae lose your mind, no dae alright abeg.”

hardeskid commented, “The truth be say my new gbedu dev cure see finish and stafilococos.”

iam_decelebrity wrote, “We’re not after entertainment right now, let’s focus on the protest tomorrow.”

Lastly, charloblawdy_ said, “That’s what you are known for. When you start doing crazy songs, it might go both ways. They either don’t love it or they do! But they would always remember how you came and made them a fan.”

Omah Lay has an impressive track record with hit tracks like “SoSo” and several others headlining music charts. His music, often described as a fusion of Afrobeats and melancholy, has even inspired fans to coin a new genre, calling it Afro-depression.
