Former Aston Villa striker, Gabby Agbonlahor, has hit out at goalkeeper Andre Onana for raging at his teammate Harry Maguire during Manchester United’s recent pre-season friendly 3-2 defeat against Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas.
Onana made his second appearance for Man United since joining the Premier League giant from Inter Milan, coming on for Tom Heaton just after half-time, with the Red Devils a goal down after Donyell Malen’s quickfire brace.
At around 47 minutes into the encounter, Onana became furious with Maguire, who appeared to give possession to Dortmund’s attackers, enabling them to get multiple shots away from the goal.
The Cameroonian was on hand to block the first attempt from Sebastien Haller, parrying the ball down to Karim Adeyemi, who, fortunately for Man United, struck his shot wide.
After the ball went out of play, the Ajax keeper immediately marched over to his defender Maguire, on the other side of the penalty area, and berated the former.
While it is unclear what Onana said to the Man United captain, it was an angry outburst, and Agbonlahor claimed the goalkeeper’s reaction was unwarranted.
He added that Onana cannot do that to Lisandro Martinez, adding that Maguire did nothing wrong.
“First of all Harry Maguire did nothing wrong,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.
“He gave the ball to a midfielder, who gave it away, and I feel like he is an easy target.
“I don’t like that from [Andre] Onana, I feel like he is an easy target.’Are you doing that to Martinez? I don’t think you are, or even Rashord like that?”
