Media personality Otunba has lashed out at the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, for exchanging pleasantries at music star Davido’s wedding.
The monarch was one of the high-profile guests at the traditional wedding of Davido and his wife Chioma, which took place at Eko Hotel, Lagos.
A video clip of the Ooni exchanging pleasantries with some guests at the event went viral, prompting Otunba to criticize him for behaving “like a guy man.” He stated that the monarch didn’t show any sign of royalty and expressed how much he misses the late Ooni.

Following criticism, Otunba clarified his comments on Twitter. He emphasized that he wasn’t against the monarch attending Davido’s wedding but was critical of the way he exchanged pleasantries.
For context, I said he was seen exchanging pleasantries like ‘Guy man.’ I am not against him attending Davido’s wedding… The king was meant to be seated and all guests paying homage to the Great Orisa!” he explained.
Otunba’s comments sparked a range of reactions on social media:

In the viral clip, the Ooni stood up to greet the Governor, who ignored him to greet others, sparking embarrassment for the monarch and debate on traditional protocol.
