The National Examination Council said on Friday that over one million applicants had enrolled for the current 2023 Senior School Certificate Examination.
Prof. Dantani Wushishi, Registrar of NECO, said this in Jos, Plateau State, on Friday, while overseeing the conduct of the test in several schools.
According to a statement issued by the Council’s spokeswoman, Azeez Sani, 601,074 of the registered candidates are males, while 584,814 are women.
The NECO boss, according to the statement, is pleased with the overall conduct of the 2023 SSCE based on reports from around the nation.
“The Registrar said the 2023 SSCE which would be concluded next week is the best organized in recent years. Prof. Wushishi disclosed that various measures have been in place to check examination malpractice, adding that the measures have started yielding positive results.”
“The Registrar who monitored the examination at Airforce Military School; King and Queens Academy and Emmanuel International College, all in Jos, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination in these schools,” added the statement.
