Oxlade Claps Back at Iyanya’s Criticism Over Mohbad Tribute

Up-and-coming Nigerian singer Oxlade has responded to his senior colleague Iyanya after being criticized for his tribute to the late artist Mohbad.

As previously reported by Kemi Filani, Iyanya called out Oxlade for his controversial post mourning Mohbad. Iyanya pointed out that when someone is fake, they tend to post screenshots of blocking or restricting good people on social media. He reminded Oxlade that he had once told him that his fakeness would be exposed, and it seems that time has come.

In response to Iyanya’s remarks, Oxlade stated that sometimes silence isn’t enough to convey a message to a fool. He then teased an upcoming conversation with Iyanya, saying, “We go yarn” at 8 pm.

“Sometimes silence is not loud enough for a fool to get the answer. 8 pm. We go yarn,” Oxlade retorted.

This exchange of words between the two artists comes after Oxlade shared a screenshot of a message Mohbad sent him in 2018, which he had ignored at the time. In the message, Mohbad had praised Oxlade’s singing talent, complimenting his extraordinary voice and expressing his admiration. Unfortunately, Oxlade did not respond to the message and had even restricted Mohbad’s social media account.

Sharp-eyed netizens noticed this and took to social media to criticize Oxlade for what they perceived as fake love, highlighting the issue of superficial relationships in the music industry.

In response to the backlash, Oxlade removed the original post from his Instagram page and replaced it with another screenshot of a chat between him and the late singer Mohbad.

Mohbad’s untimely passing has brought to the forefront the prevalence of superficial relationships in the industry, leading to conflicts and disagreements among artists.
