Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa pays tribute to Charlie Kirk, sharing what he admired about the late conservative activist who was recently killed in Utah.
The husband of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo took to Instagram to mourn the 31-year-old, describing him as a man of courage and clarity. Charlie Kirk, a close ally of former U.S. President Donald Trump and an influential voice among young Republican voters, was shot dead on August 10 while speaking at a debate organised by his nonprofit group at a Utah college.
Authorities said the attack, which occurred around 12:20 p.m. in a student courtyard, appeared targeted. The shooter allegedly fired from a rooftop before security officers secured the area.
Reacting to the tragedy, Pastor Blessed said he respected Kirk’s unwavering stance on his beliefs, noting that such boldness is rare and deserves honour.
“One thing I truly admire about Charlie Kirk is his clarity of convictions. Whether you agree with him or not, he never wavers; he boldly stands for what he believes in. That kind of courage is rare and worth honouring. RIP,” he wrote.
In another message, the pastor described the killing as heartbreaking, calling Kirk a man of values who embodied dignity, courage, and Christian character. He prayed for comfort for the activist’s loved ones and urged that those responsible face justice.
Earlier, fellow gospel ministers Nathaniel Bassey and Victoria Orenze also expressed their grief. Nathaniel offered prayers for Kirk’s soul, while Victoria hailed him as a soldier of Christ and extended sympathy to his wife and children, urging believers to remain steadfast in their faith.
