Nigerian media personality and former husband of Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle, Patrick Doyle, has taken a swipe at socialite Sophia Egbueje over her recent purchase of a Lamborghini.
The controversy began after an audio recording surfaced online, where Sophia allegedly detailed her sexual relationship with singer Burna Boy and his unfulfilled promise to buy her a Lamborghini. Following the leak, Sophia surprised many by announcing that she had purchased a white Lamborghini, emphasizing it was without the singer’s assistance.
Reacting on his Facebook page, Patrick Doyle criticized Sophia for flaunting her wealth, including a wristwatch and a Lamborghini reportedly worth ₦600 million. He expressed disappointment at the congratulatory reactions from some netizens, suggesting that her means of acquiring wealth were questionable.
He noted:
“She boasted about the value of her wristwatch and flaunted a ₦600 million Naira car. The combined value of both items is in the range of ₦650 to ₦750 million Naira. Some half-wits were impressed and effusively congratulated her as she smiled and flaunted both items. As if we hadn’t heard about her shameful means of livelihood. Meanwhile, I can bet that there are members of her extended family who are going through a tough time. The romanticizing of iniquity has become the stock in trade of dimwits amongst us.”
This isn’t the first time Patrick Doyle has aired his opinions on social matters.
Earlier this year, he reflected on how men handle humiliation in relationships. He shared a personal account of a friend who responded publicly to a perceived insult from an ex-wife, which he did not endorse.
In 2023, Patrick also condemned Davido’s logistics manager, Isreal DMW, for engaging in a public marital drama. He labeled such behavior as unbecoming of a dignified man, emphasizing that airing personal grievances online is a low point for any man.
Patrick Doyle’s comments have sparked debates online, with many discussing the broader implications of flaunting wealth and the societal normalization of questionable lifestyles.
