Paul Okoye, one-half of the renowned music duo Psquare, has addressed the recent allegations of song theft made by his twin brother, Peter Okoye.
The conflict stems from a song titled Winning, which Peter claims he had written and intended to release next year, only to discover that it had been released by his twin brother with the same producer, Big Craze.
Peter expressed his surprise and frustration, questioning how the same song could be produced by the same producer without his involvement. He also promised to release the original version of the song, making it clear that the days of manipulation were over.
In response, Big Craze, the producer behind Winning, shared his side of the story via Instagram. He explained that he had produced and recorded the track for Psquare in 2022, sending the stems for mixing and mastering. He further stated that after being paid, he left Lagos, not expecting any issues. Big Craze questioned how the situation was his fault, especially considering he had no control over the subsequent release by Peter Okoye.
This controversy is just the latest chapter in the ongoing drama within Psquare, which has been fraught with tensions and family disputes. In an interview, Paul revealed that his twin brother, Peter, had him and their elder brother, Jude Okoye, arrested in December 2023 over alleged financial misconduct. Fortunately for Paul, after a thorough investigation, he was cleared of all charges.
Peter, however, denied calling for Paul’s arrest. He clarified that his petition to the commission was filed only after discovering that their elder brother, Jude, had been diverting their joint funds into a secret account shared with his wife.
Peter also expressed his disappointment over Paul’s decision to side with their older brother, which he believes undermined their unity and tarnished his reputation. He accused Paul of consistently disrespecting him, his family, and his creative ideas, which further fueled the rift between them.
