Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, known as one half of the famous music duo Psquare, has opened up about his relationship with his twin brother, Peter Okoye, and their older brother, Jude Okoye, during an interview with City FM.
Paul recounted how Peter had him and Jude arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in December 2023. The arrest was based on a petition submitted by Peter, but after a thorough investigation, Paul was declared innocent of all allegations. Paul confirmed that Peter was also responsible for Jude’s arrest.
In the interview, Paul stated, “Peter said he’s not doing,” confirming that Psquare has broken up again. This revelation has sparked various reactions from fans and the public:
– Valentina Charles commented on the recurring conflicts, pointing out that Paul and Jude seem to be consistently at odds with Peter.
– Gen Mordi suggested that Jude might be jealous of Peter and is using Paul against him.
– Radig12 criticized Jude for not effectively managing his younger brothers.
– Dave Inna remarked that familial bonds are not always stronger than other relationships.
– Dampop1 humorously noted the frequent quarrels, calling it a recurring issue.
– Joy Amoke observed that Paul might be withholding information out of love for his brother, hoping for reconciliation.
– Steph Jennyek accused Paul and Jude of exploiting Peter, suggesting their grievances might be financially motivated.
In June last year, blogger Stella Dimokokorkus reported tensions among the Psquare brothers, allegedly due to Jude diverting joint funds. An insider claimed that a company interested in acquiring Psquare’s music catalogue uncovered financial discrepancies, leading to EFCC involvement and Jude’s temporary detention.
More recently, Instagram blogger Cutie Juls alleged that Paul and Jude were arrested by the EFCC. Following his release, Paul celebrated his exoneration on Instagram, asserting that he earned his money through legitimate means and promising new music.
The renewed conflict comes less than two years after Psquare’s much-publicized reconciliation in December 2021, which ended a five-year feud. The brothers revealed that Chief Tony Elumelu played a significant role in their reunion, which saw them perform together for the first time in four years and thank their fans for their support.
