Nigerian music star Paul Okoye, known widely as Rude Boy, has voiced his concerns following reports of missing Nigerian and Ghanaian girls.
The troubling case involves Celine and her Ghanaian friend, Afiba, who vanished after traveling from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to Abia State on April 27, 2024. Their trip was to meet a man named Andrew Ochekwo, whom they had met on Facebook. Tragically, Andrew was shot dead last week while attempting to evade arrest. A decomposing body was found near his house, but it is yet to be confirmed if it belongs to the missing girls.
Activist Harrison Gwamnishu took to his Instagram to share videos showing Andrew dining with other women at different times. In these videos, the women appeared to be speaking amiably with Andrew while he recorded their interactions. One woman, Mercy, traveled from Lagos to see Andrew in Aba, while another, Tochi, also appeared in his videos. Harrison also shared a direct message from one of Andrew’s victims, who recounted a horrific experience of being raped.
Reacting to the distressing news, Paul Okoye expressed his views via his Instagram story. He highlighted the growing trend of young women prioritizing money over safety and self-worth, often influenced by social media and societal pressures. Paul admonished young women to be more cautious and to value themselves beyond material gains.
As long as you continue to allow some of these id!ots to influence your daughters. Money, money, bill him, bill him, know your worth, know your worth. He must have this and that in his account, blah blah blah!! More girls will continue to fall victims,” Paul wrote.
Paul Okoye’s reaction underscores a critical issue facing many young women today. The pressure to associate with wealthy individuals, often driven by social media influence, can lead to dangerous situations. His call for women to know their worth and be wary of such influences is a crucial reminder of the need for self-awareness and safety.
A week ago, actress Bukunmi Oluwasina also voiced her concerns about the younger generation’s values, praying for divine guidance for the children being raised today. She criticized individuals like Saida Boj for making statements they might regret in the future.
Paul Okoye has previously addressed the issue of self-entitlement among the younger generation. He has warned that such attitudes can lead to dire consequences, emphasizing the detrimental impact of constant competition and materialism on societal values.
