Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Planning Officer to join our team on the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
Responsibilities
Support project planning and coordination:
- Assist senior planning personnel in developing project plans, timelines, and budgets for fiber optic network deployments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather project requirements and ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Assist in identifying and securing necessary resources, including materials, equipment, and personnel, for project implementation.
Conduct site surveys and assessments:
- Participate in site visits to assess potential locations for fiber optic cable installation and infrastructure deployment.
- Assist in evaluating technical requirements, environmental factors, and regulatory considerations to determine feasibility and optimal routes for fiber network expansion.
Assist in project documentation and reporting:
- Support the preparation of project documentation, including proposals, progress reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and clients.
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, including project plans, schedules, and inventory of materials and equipment.
Assist in risk management and mitigation:
- Identify potential risks and challenges associated with project implementation and propose mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and delays.
- Monitor project progress and performance indicators, alerting management to any deviations from planned timelines or budgets.
Support continuous improvement initiatives:
- Participate in post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions to identify areas for process improvement and optimization.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in fiber optic network planning and deployment, contributing insights and ideas for innovation.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Enrolled in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, with a keen interest in gaining practical experience in the telecommunications industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical requirements and project specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and work flexible hours as needed.
