The Kano State Police Command said it had arrested 14 suspects as part of efforts to rid the state of all forms of crime and delinquency. SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command’s Public Relations Officer made the announcement in a statement released on his Facebook page on Thursday.
The arrests took place during a cleanup operation. It was conducted by the Operation Restore Peace Team led by CSP Bashir Musa Gwadabe. According to a statement, dangerous weapons, illegal drugs, stolen goods, and stolen goods were seized from suspects.
The statement said Commissioner of Police, Mamman Dauda warned that anyone found in possession of weapons or illegal drugs during and after the fasting period of Ramadan will be arrested.
He urged all criminals to repent or leave the state completely. Furthermore, he said if they didn’t, they would face the full wrath of the law.
“Rigorous patrol and raids of criminals’ hideouts and black spots will continue throughout the state, as the Command will sustain the tempo in ensuring the safety of lives and properties,” the Police PRO assured.
