Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has publicly apologized to Fuji legend Saheed Osupa following a heated dispute over copyright infringement.
The drama began when Saheed Osupa flagged one of Portable’s songs on Spotify and other platforms for copyright issues, leading to its removal. In response, an enraged Portable mocked the Fuji icon’s physique and questioned his relevance in the music industry—a move that sparked backlash from fans and critics alike.
Faced with widespread criticism, Portable took to Instagram to offer a public apology, attributing his actions to the pursuit of money. He called on his fans to appeal to Saheed Osupa on his behalf, saying,
King Saheed Osupa, I am so sorry. It was money that wanted to cause our fight. My fans should please apologise to him.”
However, the apology has received mixed reactions, with many labeling it insincere. Social media users criticized Portable’s approach, suggesting he should have handled the matter privately rather than through social media.
This isn’t the first time Portable has been embroiled in controversy. Known for his outspoken nature and frequent disputes, he has consistently been a polarizing figure in the Nigerian music scene. Despite this, his recent apology highlights an effort to mend relationships, even if critics question its authenticity.
