Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has once again found himself in the spotlight, this time addressing the reasons behind his preferential treatment of his first wife, Bewaji.
In a now-deleted Instagram story, Portable responded to criticism over his decision to take Bewaji to London, explaining that her unwavering loyalty during his struggles earned her the spot. The singer revealed that Bewaji supported him when he had nothing, and her loyalty included a symbolic gesture of replacing her father’s name with his on her passport.
Defending his actions, Portable stated:
“I can’t forget the woman who put my father’s name on her passport. She’s my tomorrow. If any woman wants to follow me to London, my father’s name must be on her international passport. That’s all.”
The singer also criticized women chasing after him now, attributing their interest to his financial success.
Portable’s defense of Bewaji led to another fallout with his fourth baby mama, Ashabi. In a shared chat, Ashabi downplayed the situation by calling herself “number 5” and claimed she wasn’t bothered about Portable’s decision to prioritize Bewaji.
Her comment, however, irked Portable, who accused her of competing with his wife and causing unnecessary tension.
“Women are their own enemies. My wife doesn’t disturb any of you, but you always want to cause trouble,” he said.
This clash is the latest chapter in the rocky relationship between Portable and Ashabi, which has seen multiple public disagreements over the past two years. Despite their differences, the two have repeatedly reconciled, with Ashabi previously appreciating Portable for being part of her life.
To mark the New Year, Ashabi described Portable as her “blessing in disguise,” expressing gratitude for his care despite their frequent fights.
