Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has once again found himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
The street singer, who recently returned from America, caused a commotion in Lagos after getting into a physical altercation with a bike man, whom he accused of stealing his phone.
In videos circulating online, Portable, dressed in a yellow hoodie, was seen engaging in a fistfight with the bike man as bystanders attempted to separate them. The incident quickly drew reactions on social media, with many expressing their displeasure at Portable’s frequent involvement in public brawls.
Social media users had mixed reactions:
– Oba Catalyst: “This guy needs a good medical (psychologist and therapist) team around him 24/7. He needs help.”
– Taiwo Junzi: “His management has a lot of work to do before he becomes more infamous than he already is.”
– Oludare Omotolani: “No wonder God separated him from Davido by fire by thunder.”
– Jey Nnie: “How did this guy become a celebrity, Biko?”
– Slim Kiki: “But how did this guy end up being a celebrity?”
Earlier this year, Portable was involved in another altercation in America, where he claimed he was attacked by Nigerian-American singer Esquare and others for failing to perform at their show. Portable alleged that 40 people attacked him, leaving him with a broken leg, but Esquare debunked these claims, sharing their side of the story.
Following his return to Nigeria, Portable criticized Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, over the poor condition of roads in Sango-Ota. He claimed that his Range Rover was damaged after falling into a ditch caused by the bad roads. Portable publicly called on the governor to vacate his seat if he couldn’t fix the roads, suggesting that Yayi would be a better candidate.
Portable later claimed he received N2 million as compensation from the governor, though he did not explicitly name him. This claim sparked further backlash, with many questioning the fairness and transparency of such compensation:
– Myfeto: “So cheap. Just N2m to buy your conscience.”
– Unlimited_mercy: “They use am shit his mouth. Naso our politicians be.”
– Mayor Of Brum: “Anywhere belle face.”
– Declutter Stream Hub: “You are gradually becoming a political tool. You are going to be used to mobilize all your fans to their party advantage. This is what the majority of internet personalities and celebrities don’t really understand. This is the same thing that put Toyin Abraham in a mess.”
Portable’s controversial actions and statements continue to keep him in the news, with many concerned about the impact on his career and public image. Despite the criticisms, the singer remains unapologetically outspoken, navigating his unique path in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
