Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has reignited his feud with the Headies after being snubbed at the 17th edition of the prestigious award ceremony.

Despite attending the event at Landmark Event Centre in Lagos last week, Portable walked away empty-handed, which sparked a fresh round of drama on his Instagram. The singer took to his story to vent his frustration, accusing the award organizers of “robbing” him once again.

In his usual outspoken manner, Portable shared that although he didn’t receive an award, he was still grateful for the grace that God had bestowed upon him. He also made cryptic remarks about an unnamed colleague who had won an award, alleging that the individual hadn’t gained significant popularity.

They no give us award, but God gives us grace. Now they’re deceiving you. They carry awards and give to people who don’t blow. We blow inside the hole (Konga); people know us. You dey mad ni,” Portable ranted.

This outburst prompted reactions from netizens, who were divided in their responses. Some users, like Sabitalk1, jokingly pointed out that Portable seems to suffer from annual “headaches” caused by the Headies, while others questioned why he believed he deserved an award.

One comment from _cherii_coco read: “You for collect the award as the most troublesome artist,” highlighting the singer’s reputation for causing controversy.

Portable’s issues with the Headies have a history of their own. In 2022, the “Zazuu” crooner stirred controversy when he publicly claimed to have formed notorious groups like the One Million Boys and Ajah Boys, which led to widespread condemnation. The backlash was so intense that it resulted in his disqualification from the award show, prompting numerous rants on social media.

His frustration didn’t stop there. In the same year, Portable lashed out at fellow nominee Goya Menor after he won the Street Hop category, claiming Goya was “just a hype man” and didn’t deserve the award. Goya responded by pointing out that he was of a higher caliber and couldn’t be compared to Portable, who lacked formal education.

Portable also clashed with Buju BNXN over the Next Rated award, arguing that his own songs were more popular than Buju’s, and insisting that he was the highest-paid artist in the streets, earning over N4 million per show.

Portable’s recent outburst has continued to divide public opinion. While some fans sympathize with his frustration, others feel his antics are damaging to his career. Social media users like _nxmnsx questioned how genuine his outrage was, pointing out the visible frustration in his appearance. Another user, Iam_drr, humorously speculated that Portable would soon be back in jail, given his constant rants.
