Controversial Nigerian street singer Habeeb Okikiola, famously known as Portable, has announced the release of a new EP titled Ogo Wanted, inspired by his recent clash with the Ogun State government.

Last week, Portable was declared wanted by the police over charges of conspiracy, serious assault, public disturbance, and attempted murder involving armed thugs. The singer surrendered at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba and was later transferred to the Ogun State Police headquarters.

On Friday, Portable faced court for five charges, including conspiracy, assault, and the use of dangerous weapons like cutlasses and guns. Pleading not guilty, he was granted a ₦20 million bail and prohibited from discussing the case or related matters on social media. The trial is set for March 5.

Despite the court’s restriction, Portable found a creative way to share his side of the story through music. In a teaser shared on Instagram, he unveiled his upcoming EP, Ogo Wanted, claiming,

Music money pass Yahoo money. Zeh Nation many inspiration.”

The teaser has sparked reactions from fans, with many commenting on Portable’s knack for turning controversies into art.

One follower, Dorck_i, wrote, “Emergency album,” while another, Chicken Baeby, commented, “I expected this but not so soon.”

The singer has assured fans that he is focused on making music and staying out of trouble, expressing gratitude to his Maker for his resilience.

Earlier this month, Portable lamented the sealing of his unfinished building and hotel by the Ogun State government for alleged illegal development. The singer also pleaded with President Tinubu to intervene on his behalf, claiming the state was upset with him for supporting a political figure.

Despite the controversies, Portable continues to achieve milestones. Recently, he celebrated 59 million views on Instagram, using the platform to invite brands for bookings and ambassadorships.

Portable rose to fame in December 2021 with the release of Zazu Zeh, featuring Olamide and Poco Lee. He has since gained international recognition, winning a U.S. award as Best New Act of the Year in 2023 and receiving a shoutout from Rick Ross.
