Prince Harry’s seating arrangements for his father’s upcoming coronation have become a topic of speculation among royal insiders. Former butler Paul Burrell revealed that the Duke of Sussex would sit ten rows back from other senior royals. He predicted that the Duke might have little time to talk to his father or brother since there was “no chance” for reconciliation after the fallout from his memoir earlier this year.
Despite the appearance of a snub, Burrell suggested that Prince Harry’s far-back position could be helpful if he wishes to make a quick exit. Burrell added that the Duke of Sussex “didn’t want to spend much time around them,” and they would likely give him a very icy reception.
Burrell expressed his opinion that Prince Harry would not stay long and might leave the UK within 24 hours. However, he acknowledged that the King would be delighted to have his sons attend his coronation.
The seating arrangement rumours come as reports surface that the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, will not attend the coronation due to a letter she sent to King Charles regarding racism and “unconscious bias” inside the Royal Family. According to a source cited by the Daily Telegraph, the Duchess received an unsatisfactory response from the King and will not attend the ceremony.
However, Sussex insider Omid Scobie released a statement on behalf of Team Sussex denying the reports, calling them “false” and “frankly ridiculous.”
Although there is the ongoing tension between Prince Harry and the rest of the royal family, sources predict that he will still attend his father’s coronation out of respect for the monarch. However, with his seating position and rumoured short stay, any hopes of reconciliation may have to wait for another day.
