The Police Service Commission has refuted rumours that it is reviewing the list of applicants who made the cut for the constable recruitment drive in 2022.
The commission added that it has never recommended candidates to visit Police Training Colleges or print any revised invitation slips.
In light of the continuing disagreement with the police on the recruiting process, this is the second time the commission has responded to this problem.
Eleven days after the commission on June 4 announced the list of 10,000 successful candidates for constable and specialist cadre positions in the Nigeria Police Force, the two agencies started to argue.
The list was rejected by the police, who stated that corruption and irregularities plagued the recruiting process. Ibrahim Gaidam, the Minister of Police Affairs, intervened after the Commission promised not to remove the list.
There is still no resolution to the issue.
However, Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, cautioned successful applicants to wait for the formal announcement on the just ended hiring process in a statement on Tuesday.
Ani said:
“The Commission wishes to clarify that it has at no time issued any statement on (i) review of the list of successful candidates or (ii) inviting successful candidates to check their application on the newly launched portal.
“The Commission has not at any time advised candidates to print any updated invitation slip and proceed to the Police Training Colleges. It has also not announced any date for the training programme and the Monday, July 22nd, 2024 date, bandied in social media is just the imagination of the impostors.
“The Commission wishes to advise candidates to be patient and await its official statement on the just concluded recruitment exercise.”
