RESEARCH SUPERVISOR-VACANCY AT INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TROPICAL AGRICULTURE

• • Provide technical support on the implementation of PROSSIVA banana research activities in Nigeria, with a focus on Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) technology, seed health, and quality assurance.
  • Assist with field sample collection and processing for AMF isolation, purification, characterization, and mass production.

• Assist with the AMF priming of plantain seedlings, efficacy trial design, and management in the screen house and field conditions.
• Ensure nematode propagation using carrot discs for inoculum preparation for trials
• Ensure trial troubleshooting and data collection (spores’ density, mycorrhization index, trial and plant growth parameters, nematode count) using digital tools.
• Perform data curation and data analysis and provide trial output.
• Contribute to research on quality assurance schemes and seed health management.
• Perform any other job-related task as may be assigned by the Supervisor

QUALIFICATION:

BSc/HND in Crop protection, Agronomy, or any other related field with a minimum of two (2) years of experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.
