Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has reaffirmed her unconditional support and maternal bond with her former daughter-in-law, May Edochie, despite her separation from Rita’s nephew, Yul Edochie.
In a heartfelt message shared on her Instagram page, Rita expressed her unwavering commitment to protecting and standing by May, whom she now considers her daughter. Likening herself to a mother hen shielding her chicks, Rita vowed to fiercely defend May against any criticism or opposition.
Addressing those who question her role in May’s life, Rita asserted her maternal authority and declared her unequivocal support for May. She emphasized that May is her daughter, and she will not tolerate any interference or negativity directed towards her.
In a show of strength and determination, Rita proclaimed her readiness to confront anyone who challenges her allegiance to May. She affectionately referred to May as her “dearest daughter” and promised to stand with her “till infinity.”
This public declaration of support comes amidst the backdrop of Yul Edochie’s marriage to another woman, Judy Austin, and the subsequent separation from May. Rita had previously defended May against criticisms and insinuations regarding her status within the family.
Last year, Rita threw subtle shade at Judy Austin while celebrating May on Mother’s Day, highlighting May as the “only wife” of Yul Edochie. She had also questioned Judy’s expectations regarding May’s surname, asserting May’s legitimacy as Yul’s wife.
