Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has expressed deep sorrow over the death of popular plus-sized dancer and mother of two, Chinelo Vivian Muomah.
Chinelo passed away in a hospital in VGC, Lagos, following complications from surgery. Her sudden demise has left fans and loved ones in shock.
Reacting in a heartfelt post on Instagram, Rita admitted that she initially hoped the news was false until she saw the pamphlets confirming Chinelo’s death. According to her, the reality of losing someone so full of life, laughter, and joy left her heart heavy.
My heart sank, my hands went cold, and suddenly the world around me felt heavy. I still can’t believe she’s gone,” she wrote.
In her tribute, Rita went further to call out those who constantly body-shamed the dancer. She accused them of mocking Chinelo’s tummy, pointing at her imperfections, and planting insecurities that pushed her towards a surgery she never returned from.
You planted the insecurities, you pushed her into a corner, and in the end, she went in for a surgery she never returned from. Are you happy now? She’s gone,” Rita lamented.
The veteran actress also condemned the toxic culture of social media, stating that instead of being a place of comfort and expression, it has become a tool for judgment, mockery, and emotional harm.
She was more than her body; she was light, love, and human, and now all we have left is her memory,” Rita added, while praying for God’s comfort on Chinelo’s family.
