Over 40 African nations and Russia have signed agreements for military cooperation.
This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday in St. Petersburg.
During the second and last day of the second Russia-Africa Summit, President Putin made the declaration.
He stated:
“We are developing partnerships in military and military-technical cooperation with more than 40 African states to strengthen the defence capabilities of the countries.
“African states received a wide range of weapons and technology, some for free.
“Some of these deliveries are provided on a gratuitous basis with the aim of enhancing the security and sovereignty of the countries.”
In order to familiarise themselves with the weaponry and its usage, representatives from African nations have been asked to actively engage in military conferences sponsored by Russia that deal with the technical elements of the weapons and also manoeuvring.
Additionally, Putin stated that Russia will support the nations’ attempts to rid themselves of the “vestiges of colonialism.”
The head of the Kremlin reaffirmed that Russia will continue to be a dependable grain supplier to the nations on the continent.
