Former President Barack Obama and 500 other Americans have been banned by the Russian government from entering their country. The ban on Friday according to Russia’s Foreign Ministry was in response to the latest sanctions announced by Washington.
“Washington should have learned a long time ago that not a single hostile attack on Russia will go unpunished”, said the paper.
The United States last month denied visas to media visiting the United Nations with Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov.
On Friday the US announced punitive measures against more than 300 targets to punish Russia’s aggression in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Russia has confirmed that it has denied a recent US consular visit to imprisoned Wall Street Journal reporter, Evan Gershkovich.
He was arrested by the Federal Security Service on espionage charges in March 2023. This makes him the first American journalist to be charged with spying since the Cold War.
