Ukraine has accused Russia of conducting unlawful chemical gas assaults on its military.
Ukrainian forces informed the UK Daily Telegraph that Russia has repeatedly targeted them with tiny drones that spray tear gas and other toxins.
The use of such compounds, commonly known as CS, is prohibited during combat by the Chemical Weapons Convention.
Moscow was suspected of employing chemical weapons in a drone attack on the Mariupol port during the early stages of its February 2022 invasion.
Slava, a senior lieutenant stationed near Lyman in Donetsk oblast, reported that certain Ukrainian soldiers in his region were subjected to “almost daily” gas assaults.
The grenade was initially recovered by soldiers from the 53rd Mechanised Brigade, one of her regiments.
“My guys retrieved it while under fire because nobody believed they were being attacked with chemical weapons,” Maciorowski added.
