Arsenal starlet William Saliba will wear the No.2 shirt next season upon his contract renewal for the Premier League side, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Gunners announced previously that Saliba only had one year remaining on his previous contract. They have however changed his shirt number from 12 to 2 for the new campaign.
The 21-year-old defender was initially handed No.4 when he joined the club in 2019. Unfortunately, he lost it last summer upon the arrival of Ben White, who took it off the then-on-loan Frenchman.
The 22-year-old had to wait for his chance after signing for the club in 2019. In the process, he embarked on a series of loan spells back in France. However, his impact last season was transformative, to such an extent that when injury struck in April, the team fell apart.
Arsenal have now tied down the 22-year-old until 2027. They have also secured new deals for Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Aaron Ramsdale in a big boost to their project.
