The Lagos State Police Command has reportedly arrested Balogun Eletu, widely known as Sam Larry, a controversial Lagos socialite, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. Sam Larry has now made a statement, alleging that he paid the late artist 2 million naira for a performance at his late mother’s annual remembrance concert, but Mohbad failed to fulfill the commitment.
According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command, Sam Larry’s statement claims that he gave Mohbad 2 million naira two years ago for a performance at his mother’s concert in Ikorodu. Allegedly, Mohbad did not show up for the event, citing illness and later claiming to have lost his phone and money during an NDLEA raid.
Sam Larry states,
Since he was leaving Marlian Records, he claimed he was now broke and had no commitment to repay.” Despite the artist’s departure from Marlian Records, Sam Larry alleges that Mohbad was seen having a music video shoot near his house, prompting him to confront the artist again about the unpaid debt.
The statement mentions an argument between Sam Larry and Mohbad, with one of Mohbad’s friends allegedly insisting that the money would be repaid. However, as per Sam Larry, no repayment has occurred, and he claims to have moved on from the incident.
I know nothing about how the musician died,”
Sam Larry concluded, emphasizing that he has been away since August 20th and is unaware of the details surrounding Mohbad’s passing.
The unfolding situation adds complexity to the investigation into Mohbad’s death.
