Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has raised alarm after allegedly being assaulted by uniformed men, believed to be Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) officials, while carrying out her charity outreach in Lagos.
The actress took to Instagram to share a video of her bruised hand, expressing pain and disappointment over the incident. According to her, she was cooking free meals for the homeless when the officials arrived, harassed her, and confiscated all her food and cooking equipment.
“My heart aches. Today, as I was cooking free food for the vulnerable and homeless people on the streets of Lagos, like I always do, some uniformed men came there, harassed me, bullied me and took away the food I was cooking, took away my cooking gas and everything I was making free food with.
My only offence was serving love on a plate through my healthy meals,” she wrote.
Sarah, who clarified that she is not a professional chef, said her act of kindness was purely out of love and compassion for the less privileged.
The video has since drawn sympathy and outrage from fans and fellow celebrities, many of whom condemned the alleged assault and praised her for her consistency in giving back to society.
Earlier this month, the actress had received a ₦1 million donation from Cubana Chief Priest’s wife to support her humanitarian work. She also shared how a stranger once sent her a bag of rice and food items after appreciating her selfless efforts.
